‘Ring for Matilde 1969’ is a personal piece and a homage to my Nonna, my grandmother Matilde. The title comes from a handwritten note in a photo album of the jewellery my grandfather, Nonno, used to make for the family. Nonno had a curiosity for learning; he was a doctor, a mechanic, a painter, a sculptor, a photographer and a jeweller. This work is a reflection of my own exploration of materials and practices. A coalescence of my inspiration, my craftsmanship and all that I owe to my family, capturing the essence of Nonna’s house that only exists as a memory for those who knew of it.
